The light-filled active house is a striking contemporary home designed as one of ten experimental Active Houses financed by Private Investor. The phase one includes five new dwellings. The 334.8m2 three-bedroom house is filled with natural light and strategically placed to take in 50% of its winter heating from passive solar means. The ultra-efficient home includes a photovoltaic system, solar hot water system, heat pump, energy optimized windows, and an automatic natural ventilation system. The prefabricated, modern form is reminiscing the traditional silhouettes of the regional houses taking into consideration climatic challenges of the region with heavy snow falls during winter months and hot summers. Each plot has over 60% of green and soft landscaping.
