The renovation, revitalisation, modernisation, extension, adaptation and change of use of the former refinery complex with surrounding park providing a multiuse space for the Cross-border Cultural Centre. The space was designed as adaptable and multifunctional, serving the day to day workshops, classes, conferences, larger events organised by the County and international festivals between neighbouring countries. The modern adaptation respects the existing historic canvas and maintain historic features. Proposed lighting design enhances historic wooden trusses in the main lecture and concert hall. The modern AV/IT system will allow multifunctionality of the space. The outer buildings were adapted for administrative and storage purposes. The Cross-border Centre is one of the first initiatives connecting the beautiful mountain landscapes of Slovakia’s, Ukraine’s and Poland’s Outer Eastern Carpathians region known as Bieszczady.
